CheckPoint HR helps Cortel Business Solutions to automate
payroll and benefits administration

Cortel Business Solutions is a full-service communications company providing a range of telephone, data, network, structured cabling, fiber-optic, wireless, backup and home automation solutions.

The Challenge

Cortel’s previous payroll vendor was unable to provide an integrated Web-based business solution to support their Payroll and HR departments. Cortel serves 77 employees including field service technicians, customer service agents, sales, and operations personnel. Cortel was using a DOS-based payroll solution that it quickly outgrew, leaving the need for a system that could keep an inventory of all corporate assets used by field technicians such as laptops, service vehicles, cellular phones, E-Z pass tags, and gas cards.

The Choice

Cortel selected CheckPoint HR’s HR Plus application which encompasses payroll, human resources, employee benefits, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and e-learning.

The Solution

CheckPoint HR was able to automate Cortel's payroll and simplify the daily tasks of the HR Department, freeing them to manage more important business initiatives.  The Wilshire Group, an affiliate of CheckPoint HR, secures their group health benefits.

The Results

CheckPoint HR’s HRMS portal allows Cortel to link its time and attendance system, reduce payroll processing time and improve accuracy. It also allows for integration of sales commissions applications, as well as medical and dental benefits into the system, eliminating many paper-based processes. Cortel can now also track and maintain inventory of corporate assets with ease.
