The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey Selects CheckPoint HR to Simplify Payroll and Benefits Processes

Founded in 1896, The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey (CHSNJ) is a non-profit child welfare agency. The organization has four locations throughout New Jersey and employs over 170 full-time and part-time employees.

Challenge

With limited resources, CHSNJ was in need of one centralized system to manage and automate many of the processes related to HR, payroll and employee benefits. The HR department was short staffed with only two full-time employees and streamlining efficiencies was a priority. However, as a non-profit, cost was a determining factor when looking at an HRMS solution.

The Choice

CHSNJ selected CheckPoint HR’s fully integrated web-based HRMS solution for the management and administration of HR processes, employee benefits and payroll. Mary Graycar, Director of HR with CHSNJ, noted that additionally the department is able to conduct performance reviews and compensation analysis through the solution. While the HRMS is currently being used by the HR and fiscal staff, CHSNJ plans to roll out the employee self-service capabilities. With employee self-service, employees at all four locations can log into the HRMS and request time-off, access pay stubs or other important documentation.

Additionally, CheckPoint HR was able to provide an analysis and recommendation plan of the non-profit’s current needs in terms of employee benefits. After review of the recommendation, CHSNJ chose CheckPoint HR’s solution to increase the efficiency of human resource operations and provide the organization with improvements to its bottom line.

Solution

According to Patrick Carragher, Vice President of CheckPoint HR, CHSNJ had no interest in switching from their current providers. However, after seeing the demo and experiencing the automation and simplification that an integrated solution can provide, Mary Graycar decided to leave her current payroll provider after 11 years and benefits broker after 15 years. According to Graycar regarding her decision, “I believe that speaks volumes for our confidence in CheckPoint HR. I’ve had many brokers pitch their products over the years and most don’t get a second meeting with the CEO.  Pat came into the sales meeting with a very ‘can do’ attitude.  He blew his competition away and everyone in my organization that has met with him has been impressed.  When someone really knows what they are talking about they exude a different level of confidence, that’s Pat.”

The Results

By selecting CheckPoint HR, CHSNJ has saved both time and money and has improved its organizational efficiency. Through the integration of CheckPoint HR’s HRMS capabilities, the organization is now able to operate its human resources under one umbrella, simplifying the once difficult job of two employees managing a staff of 170.

“With The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey, we knew that operational efficiency and savings were of high importance,” said Patrick Carragher, Vice President, CheckPoint HR. “Our job at CheckPoint HR is to provide organizations with solutions customized to their needs and we are happy to be able to deliver such solutions to this non-profit organization.”
